Travelling Bones CD

Travelling Bones, the third album from Fremantle based songwriter, instrumentalist and world traveller David Hyams, launches with a special show at the Fremantle Workers' Club on the 11th May 2013.

The album marks a departure from the celtic inspired fusion of Hyams’ instrumental albums, being stylistically more rooted in the folk/country area with bluesy tinges and not a bagpipe in sight! Themes of constant motion and the strong connection to the West Australian landscape remain, with stories that include an encounter with an emu on a desolate stretch of north west highway (Roadside Lament), celebration of a Kimberley night ("Shine On") and the ritual pilgrimage to favorite southern coastal areas ("In This Summer").

The night will open with a short set from Nyoongar songstress Gina Williams with guitarist Guy Ghouse.

The band for the Travelling Bones launch is: bassist Roy Martinez with drummer Russell Wilson plus Hyams' regular East coast touring line up, classy Melbourne based string players and compelling performers in their own right, Melanie Robinson (cello, vocals) and Jenny M. Thomas (fiddle, vocals). Guy Ghouse (guitars) and Natalie Gillespie will also feature in the band. Hyams sings and plays guitars, mandolin, dobro and bouzouki.

Closing the night will be a set from the Miles To Go band.
